A Second-order Maximum Principle in Optimal Control under State Constraints
نویسندگان
چکیده
A second-order variational inclusion for control systems under state constraints is derived and applied to investigate necessary optimality conditions for the Mayer optimal control problem. A new pointwise condition verified by the adjoint state of the maximum principle is obtained as well as a second-order necessary optimality condition in the integral form. Finally, a new sufficient condition for normality of the maximum principle is proposed. Some extensions to the Mayer optimization problem involving a differential inclusion under state constraints are also provided.

Modeling of the Maximum Entropy Problem as an Optimal Control Problem and its Application to Pdf Estimation of Electricity Price
In this paper, the continuous optimal control theory is used to model and solve the maximum entropy problem for a continuous random variable. The maximum entropy principle provides a method to obtain least-biased probability density function (Pdf) estimation. In this paper, to find a closed form solution for the maximum entropy problem with any number of moment constraints, the entropy is consi...
متن کاملNormality of the maximum principle for non convex constrained Bolza problems∗
We consider a Bolza optimal control problem with state constraints. It is well known that under some technical assumptions every strong local minimizer of this problem satisfies first order necessary optimality conditions in the form of a constrained maximum principle. In general, the maximum principle may be abnormal or even degenerate and so does not provide a sufficient information about opt...
متن کاملDynamic Load Carrying Capacity of Flexible Manipulators Using Finite Element Method and Pontryagin’s Minimum Principle
In this paper, finding Dynamic Load Carrying Capacity (DLCC) of flexible link manipulators in point to-point motion was formulated as an optimal control problem. The finite element method was employed for modelling and deriving the dynamic equations of the system. The study employed indirect solution of optimal control for system motion planning. Due to offline nature of the method, many diffic...
متن کاملOptimal Control Under State-Action-Frequency Constraints
We establish a Pontryagin maximum principle for discrete time optimal control problems under the following three types of constraints: a) constraints on the states pointwise in time, b) constraints on the control actions pointwise in time, and c) constraints on the frequency spectrum of the optimal control trajectories. While the first two types of constraints are already included in the existi...
متن کاملNormality of the maximum principle for absolutely continuous solutions to
It is well known that for a Bolza optimal control problem under state constraints every local minimizer satisfies a constrained maximum principle which may be degenerate. In the recent years several researchers proposed sufficient conditions for its nondegeneracy, e.g. Arutyanov and Assev (1997), Rampazzo and Vinter (1999, 2000), Galbraith and Vinter (2003). In all these papers the most importa...
